The LIM Asia Special Situations Fund was launched in January 2008. The Fund seeks to secure investment returns from situations where we believe risk and opportunity have been misunderstood and mispriced in the market. Typically, it has been our experience that these opportunities arise where the underlying market lacks familiarity with the business being financed or where the company lacks access to traditional financing sources. A significant portion of the portfolio is comprised of secured debt transactions, seeking to enhance yield through a judicious use of equity, equity-linked, or performance linked participatory investments. The Fund will also invest in what we believe to be mispriced public securities.
The Fund is managed by an experienced investment team comprised of strategy and industry focused investment professionals based in Hong Kong, Beijing, Bangkok and Jakarta. Ideas are generated through deep local networks and company visits. What we believe to be attractive opportunities are then further evaluated using rigorous fundamental analysis and thorough due diligence.
The Fund's investment approach is designed in an attempt to take advantage of opportunities throughout the market cycle by retaining the flexibility to tactically rotate between public and private investments. Core strategies include: 1) Private debt with equity kickers, 2) Private loans, 3) Distressed debt, 4) Stressed high yield, and 5) Equity special situations.
